Innovation Grants
The Innovation Grants program is the primary way money raised by the AEFI is distributed. All teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, and principals from the Ashland schools are eligible to submit grants for review. Proposals are encouraged which demonstrate innovation, are collaborative and have the potential to have broad impact upon the school. Equal consideration is given to proposals that are designed for an individual classroom or program. All proposals must promote rigor, provide challenge for all students and enrich students’ educational experiences.
Grants are reviewed and scored by a Innovation Grants Committee made up of several AEFI board members, community members and educators. Final approval by the Board of Directors is based on score and available budget.

“The students love the Google Expedition/VR experience! The headsets allow students to be immersed in experiences and places from around the globe. Fifth grade students have come face to face with Manta Rays on the Great Barrier Reef. The Google Expedition/VR headsets allow Mindess students to listen to books and be transported to places they are learning about. It’s transformative!” --Claudia Bennett & Lisa Lamphier, Mindess Runs the World, 2019 Innovation Grant Winner |
“Implementing this program has given us good information to help bridge the linguistic and culture gap, it is making a positive impact with the families who attend. They are learning skills about how to support their child’s learning at home, and also learning about our school culture in general.” |
